Velowave Ranger vs Ghost Ebike

Velowave Ranger vs Ghost Ebike

Velowave is a reputable ebike brand that has, over time, gained the trust of ebike users by providing value-packed eco-friendly products. Built upon the foundation of providing affordable yet good-quality ebikes, Velowave's product lineup has grown considerably. Two of the brand's most famous ebikes include the Ranger fat tire electric mountain bike and the Ghost electric mountain bike.

This blog compares both the ebikes down to their most minute details so you can choose the one that best suits your needs.

The Basics:

To begin with, the basic difference between the two ebikes is the fact that the Ranger is a fat tire mountain electric bike whereas the Ghost is a mountain bike. What this essentially means is that the Ranger FMTB3 ebike has thicker wheels that allow it to have more grip on loose gravel, sand, snowy surfaces and mountain. Since the fat tires distribute the rider’s & the bike’s weight over a larger area, therefore, it requires more input from the rider which makes the Ranger ebike better for a cardio workout as well.

On the other hand, the Velowave Ghost MTB3 electric bike is a mountain bike which means it provides great durability and is a great option for literally going through some of the most unwelcoming locations. The Ghost ebike is particularly useful for navigating through rocky terrains and it’s known for withstanding the test of time.

Drivetrain & Top Speed:

The Velowave Ranger fat tire ebike is propelled by a 750W geared hub motor whereas the Ranger Mountain bike makes do with a 500W motor which is geared hub as well. The 750W motor of the Ranger ebike allows it to touch a top speed of 20mph on the throttle mode alone and it’s the same case for the Ghost ebike which also maxes out at 20mph on throttle mode alone. Both the ebikes use a thumb throttle attached to the handlebar.

Battery & Range:

A 48V 15Ah LG Li-ion battery provides juice to the Ranger ebike’s motor, while the Ghost ebike uses a 48V 13AH Li-ion battery. Both the electric bikes are shipped with a 48V 2 Amp charger that charges the removable battery within a reasonable amount of time. The real-life range delivered by both the batteries is largely the same (20-35 miles), however, it is important to keep in mind that the range depends on a variety of factors including the road conditions, riding habits, wind, tire type, and pressure and the rider's weight.

Tires & Brakes & Headlight:

As the name suggests, the Ranger fat tire ebike utilizes thicker tires manufactured by Kenda measuring 26” *4.0”. The Ghost ebike uses the same brand’s tires, but the size of 27.5” *2.35” is obviously quite different from the ones used in the Ranger ebike. Both the electric bikes shine in the brake department as well. The Ranger ebike makes use of hydraulic disc brakes both at the front and the rear which sits perfectly with its overall geometry. The Ghost ebike uses mechanical disc brakes that, in conjunction with the Kenda tires, provide awesome braking power. Ranger equips a headlight but Ghost does not equip it at the first place, you can also add on one.

In addition, you can also purchase a variety of accessories and spares from the Velowave website any time of the day which eliminates the hassle of looking toward third-party manufacturers.

  • I’m a larger rider at 6’1” 250lbs and I just added the new suspension to my RANGER and it feels just like I have suspension on the Rear Wheel.
I also ordered & installed a new adjustable neck for the handle. This allowed me to raise the handlebars and put me into more of an upright sitting position and it’s more comfortable now.
